Annie (2003-2019)

My Story

Hi my name is Carolyn! My love for Shih Tzus began in 1978, when my best friend, Melanie, got an all white Shih Tzu. Her name was Annie, and I instantly fell in love with her. We had a German Shepherd growing up, so this little dog was an excitement to my eyes. Naturally, I had to go home and try to convince my parents to buy us one of our own. My mom always loved cats, so I tried to reassure her that a Shih Tzu is pretty much the same thing as a cat. She did not go for it.

About a week later, I saw a stuffed animal that was a Shih Tzu in a toy shop at the Milford mall. Knowing that it was the closet thing I could have to a Shih Tzu, I bought it, and it slept on my bed until the day I moved out.

Many years later, I got married to my wonderful husband, Joe, and had four kids. Joe's love for big dogs led us to the adoption of a mixed breed, who we named Softail (yes, after the motorcycle). Well, since my husband had his new dog, I decided to start searching for my own. If you couldn't guess, I found a breeder of Shih Tzus. Not wanting to risk my husband saying no to the idea, I took my four kids with me to pick a puppy out (I knew they wouldn't object to the idea!). This is when my dream of owning a Shih Tzu finally came true. I named the new puppy Annie, and even though my husband was not the happiest when he came home to a new puppy, she became a part of our family.

Eventually, I decided one was definitely not enough, so I bought another, and another, and another. And thats when my family started calling me the crazy lady with a bunch of Shih Tzus.

After many years of owning Shih Tzus, I decided I wanted to share these precious dogs with other families, leading me to buying my first dam, Amber, and starting the B-Town Bunch of Shih Tzus.

With my husband by my side as my biggest supporter, I have learned a lot about the breeding process and strive to breed dogs to have friendly dispositions who fit in seamlessly as incredible family pets. There’s no better feeling than when we match one of our wonderful dogs with their caring new owner. It’s why we put so much time, love, and effort into making sure these special dogs continue to be bred.
